The Gift: Impossible if Possible!

The Gift 2

Impossible is Possible!

Was there always something you want to do or change but cannot because of our limitations as humans?

It could be as simple as teleporting to your campus to escape the oh-so-torturous traffic jam or as heavy as changing the financial situation of your family. There are so many things we WISH we can do, but we find ourselves POWERLESS to do so. No matter how intelligent or how rich you are, there will always be problems we can’t solve, situations we can’t change, and mistakes we can’t erase, all because WE ARE LIMITED BEINGS.

Well, that just sucks, doesn’t it?

Fortunately, there is Someone whose power has no boundaries. “Impossible” is not in His vocabulary; He is the ultimate game changer! He is the Supreme Being of all, and we can lean on Him.

Jesus is that Someone who has unlimited power and ability.

In the past blog, we talked about how Jesus is the WONDERFUL COUNSELOR, now let’s go into His second identity, MIGHTY GOD.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
                                                                                                                                    Isaiah 9:6

In the Hebrew language, the word Elohim refers to “Mighty God”; the word “Mighty” cannot be separated from “God”. The common term to refer to God was Elgibor with Gibor meaning “Immensely strong”. In short, God is described as having IMMENSE STRENGTH AND MIGHT. His power is UNRIVALED, and His wisdom is NON-PARALLELED.

And unlike us Humans, God never grows weary nor groans. He never grows tired and does not need our help. He is the SELF-SUFFICIENT, ALMIGHTY CREATOR.

“The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things;”
                                                                                                                                    Acts 17: 24-25

Jesus’ power and might is perfectly shown when He and His disciples were travelling out at sea. A big storm was before them and His disciples were trying to wake Him up to save them from the calamity. With a simple command, the storm died down and peace ensued. No one but Him is capable of doing such miracle.

“And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Hush, be still." And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. 40 And He said to them, "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
                                                                                                                                    Mark 4: 39-40

JESUS IS NOT JUST A TEACHER OR A PROPHET, HE IS THE MIGHTY GOD!

Knowing this, we can take heart that:

1. JESUS IS MIGHTY OVER MANKIND

“Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.”
                                                                                                                        Romans 12: 19

We all encounter people that just get on our nerves and have done us wrong, but God is mighty and sovereign over human beings. Even though that person may seem hopeless, God can change their hearts even if they don’t follow Him. If they’ve been hurting you, abusing you, or pulling you down, don’t compromise your relationship with God! All you have to do is to keep praying for him and trust God for He has full authority over creation!

2. JESUS IS MIGHTY IN IMPOSSIBLE SITUATIONS

Feeling discouraged over something that seems HOPELESS and IMPOSSIBLE?

Don’t fret! Jesus performed so many miracles including healing the sick, giving sight to the blind, and raising the dead to life! If He can do those, then what more to the problems you’re facing! If you look at the week 3 blog entry of “The Story of My Life”, then we would remember the woman who has been bleeding for 12 years, but just a touch of Jesus’ cloak, her illness vanished! There is NO SITUATION that God is powerless to change.

“For nothing is impossible with God."
                                                                                                                                           Luke 1:37

Maybe you’re stuck in a scenario where you’ve been praying for so long, maybe even years, but nothing seems to be happening. God will not always give us what we ask for, but God has a higher purpose on why He lets such things happen. God sees the big picture, and everything that is happening is all for our good; that is how much He loves us.

3. JESUS IS MIGHTY OVER SIN AND TEMPTATION

Maybe you’re trapped in your sins, and you think you’re a hopeless case. The guilt and pain is overwhelming, and no matter how much you try to resist, you just keep falling in the hole of temptation. You feel so confined and have lost hope in yourself, but God will never give up on you! When we accept Jesus in our lives, His spirit lives inside of us and we become ALIVE and REDEEMED. Don’t listen to the lies of the enemy! God is always there to provide FORGIVENESS and RELEASE.

"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free,”
                                                                                                                                           Luke 4:18

There is no need to drown in guilt; Christ’s love on the Cross has set us free from sin. We are now His children; He is our shepherd, our guide! He promises that if we walk by Him and remain in fellowship with Him, He will direct our paths and ways, and use us in ways we can never imagine. If we want to be victorious in sin, we have to remain in Him, the One who has CONQUERED sin.

"I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
                                                                                                                                    John 15:5

Even though we have our shortcomings and imperfections, we are loved by a perfect God whose love alone encompasses everything. Though the world is a hard battle, God has overcome the world! So trust and surrender it all to Him for He is the MIGHTY GOD and LORD OF ALL.

Let’s be rest assured in God not only in His power and might but also in His everlasting love for us.
